Look out for those green labels plastered all around their premises and on their websites. That is one hell of an easy way to know you are spending your money on travels responsibly.Wow. Just wow. Life has never been this easy. Don’t you for a second doubt it, they’re parading their eco-friendliness so clearly with all those green labels and save-the-earth kind of messages. How can they be wrong or trying to deceive you? Perhaps you’re just overthinking.

So what are you waiting for? You know what to do. Start feeling good about your travels today knowing you have done your part to be a responsible tourist!

In recent times, greater environmental awareness and ‘going green’ has coincided with an increasing desire to travel responsibly. Guides, web articles, and other information sources which advocate support for eco-friendly accommodation providers and businesses are so commonplace that we hardly question or ponder about the matter.

However, eco-friendly labels and declaration of environmental commitment do not always accurately reflect real attitudes. ‘Greenwashing’ has become a popular shrewd marketing ploy for some businesses to promote a responsible image, while their irresponsible practices still continue ‘backstage.’ Looking closely, are those labels self-declared, or indeed conferred by relevant legitimate authorities? How about their day-to-day, operational practices, do they reflect their claims? Although the thought is there, we also want to be convinced that our conscious choices will translate into true responsibilities.
