How to earn money while you travel! $$$

Want to see the world but have no money in your pockets? Fret not! You can travel for literally nothing! As long as you have a good command of English, and are in a developing country, you can sign up to be an English teacher in a school. Sure, your home country may require teachers to have 2 years of training and a proper certification to teach, but where you’re going, they are so short of English teachers, they’ll hire even you! What better way to experience the real culture and life of a country than staying for awhile and working there! And don’t worry if you get bored of the place after a few months. Just leave for another country, rinse and repeat! I’m sure another broke traveller will come along to replace you and carry on with the class of children you’ll leave behind. And they’ll pick up right where you left off, so the children can have a quality education. Win-win right?

Seriously tho,

Some travel guides espouse an ideology that money should not be an obstacle to travelling, and encourage travellers (not tourists, as they like to emphasize) to do things like teach or do odd jobs for cash. However, this idea can neglect the possible socioeconomic problems that may surface with travellers taking up jobs that may not be qualified to do, or even the dangers that these travellers may face running out of money in a foreign place.

The imagination of “developing” countries as willing recipients of such economic engagement (like teaching) may not always be accurate; geographical context matters and differs from country to country. For example, some countries may have even stricter teaching guidelines and requirements than supposed “developed” countries.
